This project is focused on evaluating the Merdeka 118 Precinct in Kuala Lumpur to identify its character, identity, and potential for responsive architecture and place-making. Through a Townscape Appraisal, we assessed the urban area's visual, aesthetic, and contextual qualities to enhance its spatial and social attributes. This study was the first phase of designing a Learning Centre for the local community. ​For this first phase of the project, the objective was to propose an urban architectural intervention that responds to community needs, retains the historic town's character, and improves public spaces.​Site Context:Site A: Along Jalan Petaling, adjacent to Bulatan Merdeka.Site B: Along Jalan Kampung Attap, near Bulatan Merdeka.
