Through this assignment, we will be able to identify basic design principles and apply them to our model.  Each of us is required to build 2 models based on the design principles. Then, we will choose and combine the model and transform them into the final model.

This project is the continuation of Project 1 to introduce the elements of design, the form used in this project needs to be the extraction of the shape from one of the patterns created by each individual group member in the project.

There are 8 design principles for us to develop,

Balance

Rhythm

Emphasis

Movement

Variety

Contrast

Unity

Hierarchy

In the first week, we choose the design principle that we want to develop and build 2 models based on the design principle we choose. Movement is the design principle I choose and I extract the triangle shape from my previous project to develop.

After the mock-up, we start to think of what design principle we wanted to develop for our final model. At first, we want to build a futuristic tree house but through the progress, we found out that the model looks more like a lighthouse. Thus, we name it Deng.

While we start building the model together, I got covid accidentally. Thus, I was not able to involve myself when they are building the model. I can only help by doing the slides. My leader and my groupmates understand my situation and keep up the information to me every day so I won't feel left out in this assignment.

Reflection

I was so happy to be in a group with them. All of them are so responsible and proactive in the conversation by giving out ideas.  We argued a lot in the discussions but overall the outcome is good.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

We have 7 group members in the group. All of us have different opinions on building the model and we discuss it a lot. Every time we have different opinions, we need to communicate well to make sure everyone understands and we need to vote for the result.

THINKING AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS

While doing this assignment, we faced some problems but we managed to solve them. We tend to complete the tasks smoothly in the end as we applied thinking and problem-solving skills. This also helps to improve my skills while my group members give out their thoughts to solve the troubles.
