SITE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN RESPONSE
USJ 14
Location:
Considering it is surrounded by residential areas and offers activities for people all day long, the location has the ability to unite people.
Community:
The Kebun has contributed greatly to the park and the community; therefore, it is necessary to raise awareness of them and their work.
Atmosphere:
There is a sense of division at USJ14 Park as a result of the seclusion of the kebun from the rest of the park, which separates the two communities.
Our task involved creating a Neighbourhood Park Plan that included a theme and a redesign of the site to accommodate a Neighbourhood Learning Centre and Learning Pods. We aimed to address community needs, harmonize with the environment, ensure accessibility for pedestrians and individuals with disabilities, and integrate sustainable strategies. A site visit to USJ14 Park provided insights into both its tangible and intangible qualities, as well as community requirements. Our class was divided into five groups focusing on Site Drawing, Social Content, Natural & Man-Made Features, Circulation & Access, and Site Atmosphere & Character. We gathered data through various methods including sketches, diagrams, photography, video, audio recordings, secondary research, and interviews. SWOT analysis was used to assess the site’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, which informed our design narratives and the development of the park’s master plan.
